Adding shortening

When adding cornstarch/flour to thicken a liquid, mix the shortening powder in a small amount of water and whisk it to break up the clumps that form. Afterwards, pour the homogenous mixture into the liquid.

Dry cleaning

The process of dry cleaning is nearly identical to that of traditional machine washing except for one key difference: instead of water, dry cleaners use "tetrachloroethylene," a chemical relative of chlorine.
