"Of Mice and Men"

When people speak "of mice and men," they're referring to this quote:

“The best laid schemes o’ mice an’ men / Gang aft a-gley.”

Essentially, it means "The best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry." It comes from a line in “To a Mouse,” by Robert Burns.
