If you've searched the internet for tickets to an event, make sure the page you come across isn't from the previous year(s)- always check the date before purchasing.

Friend you've never met

If you are heading to a meeting or social gathering, assume every strange also walking the same direction is heading there as well. Hold the door open, be pleasant in elevators, because if they are also part of the group to which you're heading and you're cold, obnoxious, or rude to them, the entirety of the event will be awkward.

It should not take serious effort to convince someone to do something with you. If it does, it means the person is either not interested in the event, or you.
